Amtrak expands storm cancellations and changes to include 'Empire Service' trains

NEW YORK — Amtrak has expanded its cancellations and schedule modifications for Sunday to include Empire Service trains. The moves are in advance of a winter storm approaching the Northeast.

In addition to its previously announced cancellations and changes [See “Amtrak cancels trains, modifies schedules in advance of storm,” Trains News Wire, Jan. 18, 2019], the passenger railroad has announced the following changes for Sunday, Jan. 20:

— Cancelled are New York-Buffalo/Niagara Falls Empire Service trains 250, 260, 238, 284, 68, 63, 281, 283, 253, and 259.

Empire Service trains 280, 292, 295, 64, and 69 will operate only between Albany and New York.

The complete list of cancellations and other changes, as of Amtrak's latest update on Friday, is available at the Amtrak website.

Those planning to travel should confirm their train status on the Amtrak website or app. Those whose reservations are impacted by the cancellations and changes should call Amtrak’s reservation center at 1-800-USA-Rail; charges for reservation changes have been waived.
