CALGARY, Alberta — Canadian Pacific has appointed Edward L. Monser to its board of directors, effective Dec. 17.

Monser is about to retire as president of Emerson, a global technology and engineering company. He is also a member of the advisory Economic Development Board for China’s Guangdong Province, is a past board member and vice-chairman of the U.S.-China Business Council, and is a member of the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum.

"Ed's experience and breadth of knowledge will serve CP well,” Andrew F. Reardon, chairman of the CP board, said in a press release, “especially in the areas of engineering, technology and international trade. We look forward to working closely with Ed in service of our shareholders."
