NEWINGTON, Conn. — Service on CTrail’s Hartford Line, and Amtrak service which uses the same route, will face disruptions this weekend to complete installation of double track on the route.

A service alert on the Hartford Line website reports that a bus bridge will be in effect beginning Friday at 10:30 p.m., with buses replacing rail service between Hartford, Conn., and Springfield, Mass. The bus service will continue through 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 10.

During this period, Amtrak trains 140, 143, 146, 147, 148 and 157 will be replaced by buses between Springfield and New Haven, Conn., with rail service between New Haven and Washington. Amtrak’s Vermonter will be replaced by buses north of New Haven, beginning Saturday and continuing through Tuesday, Sept. 11. The additional use of buses for the Vermonter will accommodate bridge work in Massachusetts.

Complete information on the service changes is available here.
