DENVER — The victim in Saturday’s fatal accident involving UP steam engine No. 844 has been identified, the Denver Post reports.
According to coroner for Adams and Broomfield counties, 56-year-old Kelly Michelle Yarish of Brighton, Colo., died from multiple blunt-force injuries. She was killed when struck by the Denver Post Cheyenne Frontier Days special, pulled by No. 844, as it returned to Denver on Saturday evening. Witness reports and video footage indicate Yarish was standing too close to the tracks when the train passed.
