SCRANTON, Pa. — A planned excursion behind an A-B-A set of  EMD F3s will highlight the 2018 convention of the Anthracite Railroads Historical Society, Sept. 8-9 at Steamtown National Historical Society.

The excursion will mark the 70th anniversary of the locomotives, now owned by the Anthracite society and Tri-State Railway Historical Society. It is scheduled for Sept. 8 between Scranton and Tobyhanna, Pa., with photo stops planned. Presentations and a tour of the F3 units make up the Sept. 9 schedule.

The excursion plan is subject to change depending on the mechanical status of the locomotives.

The event is open to members and non-members. More information is available at the group’s website.
