Amtrak offers "flash sale" on long-distance coach travel

Amtrak has begun a “flash sale” on tickets for several long-distance routes, offering 25 percent off on tickets bought today (Jan. 30) through Thursday, Feb. 1.

The sale, available only at, covers travel between Feb. 13 and March 22, and includes nine long-distance routes:

Auto Train, between Lorton, Va., and Sanford, Fla.;
— The Capitol Limited, between Chicago and Washington, D.C.;
The Cardinal, between New York and Chicago;
— The City of New Orleans, between Chicago and New Orleans;
— The Crescent, btweeen New York and New Orleans;
— The Lake Shore Limited, between Chicago and New York or Boston;
— Silver Service/Palmetto, Boston-New York to Savannah, Ga., and Miami;
— The Sunset Limited, between New Orleans and Los Angeles;
— The Southwest Chief, between Chicago and Los Angeles

All prices will be automatically discounted from the standard fare. No discount code is needed; prices are as shown and can’t be combined with other discount codes.
Sale prices are exclusively available for one-way Coach Class fares and upgrades to Business Class are not permitted. Sale prices are not available on all trains at all times, and once purchased, tickets are non-refundable.
