Tech company launches mobile ticketing on Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit

NEW YORK — London-based tech company Masabi has debuted its mobile ticketing technology onboard the new Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit agency.

Better known as SMART, the Sonoma-Marin rail agency is a brand new commuter rail service serving Sonoma and Marin counties in the San Francisco Bay Area. The agency launched full service on Aug. 25.

The app, known as the JustRide platform, allows users to locate transit routes and stations near their current location, access real-time transit information, receive notifications about service disruptions, and plan train trips that include different forms and modes of transportation, such as ride-share programs, other public transit systems, and Uber.

The SMART ticketing app is available for download from Google Play and the Apple App store. The agency is offering reduced fares on the new eTicket platform until Sept. 5.

SMART’s coverage area includes 43 miles and 10 stations from the Sonoma County Airport to downtown San Rafael.
