LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority is in the process of reviewing an unsolicited proposal from Fluor Enterprises Inc., to help speed up the Orange Line light rail project.

It is the first public-private proposal that LA Metro managers have received for the light rail project since the voter-approved Measure M tax initiative took effect. The additional half-cent sales tax earmarks money for transportation-related projects in the Los Angeles region.

Fluor is a South Carolina-based engineering and construction firm that also provides maintenance and project management services.

Transit managers are reviewing the financial and technical merits of the proposal.
