CHICAGO — Leaders at the Chicago Transit Authority are celebrating the elevated railroad and bus company's 70th anniversary this year with special tours, promotions, contests and a new Instagram account to show off rarely seen archived photos of the agency’s equipment. Users can subscribe to the account by following @ChicagoCTA.
The agency’s fleet of vintage rail equipment will also make an appearance later this year for the celebration, the Associated Press reports.
In addition to the agency’s 70th anniversary, Chicagoans will also celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Chicago ‘L’ train on June 6. The city’s elevated passenger line opened for service in 1892.
