MELBOURNE, Fla. – A Florida East Coast train derailment over the weekend closed both the railroad and parallel U.S. Route 1, News 13 television reports. The derailment occurred in Rockledge, north of Melbourne in Brevard County.

No injuries were reported. The incident occurred about 5 a.m. on Sunday.

A source close to the railroad tells Trains News Wire that the train involved was No. 226, a northbound intermodal. Photos show of the scene show two GP40-2 locomotives and intermodal equipment involved in the derailment.

Emergency response officials say an undisclosed amount of diesel fuel spilled, but the spill is contained.
