FIILLMORE, Calif. – Fillmore & Western 2-8-0 No. 14 will power the first Santa Train of the season Nov. 28, departing the East Ventura Metrolink commuter station at 5 p.m. The special train will have Santa Claus and his helpers onboard to hand out candy canes and accept new unwrapped toys to be distributed by local Rotary Clubs to needy children.

The train, which will consist of No. 14, an auxiliary water tender, and former Santa Fe passenger car No. 409, will depart Fillmore at about 2 p.m. and deadhead to East Ventura. No. 14 will be on the rear running backwards to the Metrolink station.

The Federal Railroad Administration recertified the former Duluth & Northeastern steam engine on Nov. 17.

Railroad President Dave Wilkinson says the locomotive's next outing will be in 2016.
