The Long Island Rail Road has updated its popular TrainTime mobile app. Among the new features are an easier to use Station Picker Screen, improved Arrival Countdown Screen, enhanced Trip Search capability, detailed station parking information, and a new server that enables the railroad to handle more than 2,000 Train Time requests per minute, a capacity upgrade meant to meet demand during service interruptions. Basic train information is also available even when a customer cannot locate cellular service.

A large container terminal located in Long Beach, Calif., has selected RailComm to provide remote automation to a new facility installation. RailComm is responsible for providing control and communication options to switch machines and derails installations. Control for the new installation is being provided via the Domain Operations Controller system – RailComm’s proprietary yard control application. The system will also be interfaced with an existing Train In Motion System, which allows users to utilize a single application for yard control.

Ferromex has chosen RailComm to provide yard automation to more than 80 newly installed switch machines, which will be controlled via the RailComm Domain Operations Controller in Torreon City, Mexico.
