LINCOLN, Neb. — The Friends of the Union Pacific Railroad Museum is introducing a design for a specialized Nebraska license plate honoring UP’s 150th anniversary. UP employees can sign up initially, and assuming at least 500 place an order, the public will be able to order the plates through the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles’ website starting after April.

Abby Cape, the museum’s community relations coordinator, said she anticipates the license plate will easily get 500 orders from UP employees. Any nonprofit organization can get specialty Nebraska plates if 500 people order them initially. None of the $70 plate fee goes to the museum, Cape said, but by ordering the plate, residents can show their support for it.
