Echoes in the valley

RELATED TOPICS: steam/preservation

West Virginia’s Greenbrier Valley echoes to the sounds of the chime whistle on Cass Scenic Railroad Shay No. 4 and the chime horn on Chesapeake & Ohio GP9 No. 6241 at the old water tank in Cass, W.Va. The Shay is about to push a tourist train to Whittaker, while the Geep is returning from Durbin, W.Va., on July 1, 1966. Check out more Cass and West Virginia coverage in the August 2013 issue of Trains magazine. Photo by J.J. Young Jr.
