CHICAGO – A Illinois Democrat says commuters deserve better service from Metra on its BNSF Line, which has been plague with delays and problems as the railroad installs positive train control. As part of the installation, Metra had to dramatically adjust its schedule between Chicago and Aurora, the Daily Herald reports.

"Metra commuters pay for and deserve service they can rely on. I am deeply concerned with issues that have been impacting riders on the BNSF Line," says U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski. "The only acceptable solution here is results."

A derailment in Chicago on Monday resulted in a "hot, frustrating night,” according to Metra officials, when a number of trains had to be canceled. But riders say it’s been like that all summer. Railroad officials say they are working as fast as they can to resolve the issues.
