ISTANBUL — At least 24 are dead after a weekend passenger train derailment in Turkey, international media report.

The Associated Press cites Turkey's deputy prime minister saying that heavy rains caused the ground underneath the train to collapse, leading to the derailment in the northwest part of the country. The news outlet cites another official who says that 318 people on the train were injured.

Reuters reports that the train was carrying 362 people altogether.
