NTSB

WASHINGTON — The National Transportation Safety Board has scheduled two days of hearings in July to investigate a pair of recent fatal Amtrak accidents.

The board announced Wednesday that it will hold hearings July 10-11 on both the derailment of an Amtrak Cascades train in DuPont, Wash., last December that killed three people, and the Feb. 4 accident in Cayce, S.C., that sent the Silver Meteor into a parked CSX Transportation freight train, killing two.

Those scheduled to participate include representative of Amtrak, Seattle’s Sound Transit, the Federal Railroad Adminstration, CSX, and unions representing railroad workers.

There will be a live webcast of the hearing. A link will be posted shortly before the hearing starts at this NTSB page.
