RALEIGH, N.C. — A North Carolina man is facing charges after police say he ran a truck into a CSX Transportation bridge, knocking it out of place, and driving off.

WTVD in Raleigh reports that local police have charged 41-year-old Rayvon Smith of Henderson, N.C., with leaving the scene of an accident after police say Smith drove a tractor trailer into an Apex, N.C., bridge owned by CSX and then took off without notifying authorities or the railroad.

The television station reports that the bridge will be out of commission at least a month for repairs.

The bridge is on a former Seaboard Air Line route used by Amtrak's Silver Star.
