TORONTO — BSM Technologies, with Lat-Lon, has announced Don Loftis of Olin Corp. has been awarded the BSM Technology Innovation Award. The award recognizes leadership and innovation in implementing Internet of Things solutions in the rail industry and is being given to Loftis in honor of his significant contributions. Loftis is aggregating multiple asset data inputs within Olin and is assessing large amounts of data in pursuit of improving ride quality and safety in rail, a truly innovative accomplishment within the industry. BSM and Lat-Lon, which deliver best-in-class Internet of Things solutions for rail, will be hosting Loftis in their booth with the award at the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association Connections Show on April 8.

In the past decade, Loftis has been focused on crisis management in rail and developing optimal track and trace solutions for Olin Corp. He is involved with the Transportation Research Board and authored studies on emerging technology applications for transportation. Lofits’ industry expertise has been willingly shared at Railway Interchange, North American Rail Shippers, RSI, and SWARS.
