JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — CSX Transportation is the only U.S.-based railroad and one of only three transportation companies to earn a spot on Dow Jones’ sustainability index. It is the railroad’s seventh consecutive year receiving the honor.

Dow Jones’ sustainability index recognizes companies based on their economic, environmental, and social projects. Criteria include issues such as corporate governance, risk management, climate change mitigation, supply chain initiatives, stakeholder transparency, and labor practices.

A railroad news release touts high performance in corporate governance, supply chain management, and corporate citizenship, among other achievements as reasons for being recognized by the index.

The index focuses on the top 10 percent of the 2,500 largest companies in the Standard and Poor's Global Broad market index.
