K. Jane Williams
Federal Transit Administration
WASHINGTON — K. Jane Williams has been appointed deputy administrator of the Federal Transit Administration. In her new position, Williams will oversee the agency’s role in funding and managing the safe operation of rail and other public transit systems.

Prior to joining the FTA, Williams was the director of the Washington Area Transit Office in the Maryland Department of Transportation. During her tenure with the state of Maryland, she worked with the leadership of the Maryland Transit Administration and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

Prior to that, she served in the executive branch at the Department of Energy and Department of Labor under President Ronald Reagan and the Department of Interior under President George H.W. Bush. She has held other political roles, including a legislative advisor for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
