CHINA GROVE, N.C. — A rail industry company specializing in the manufacturing of air brake hoses is expanding its business in North Carolina, the Charlotte Business Journal reports.

Premtec, a New York Air Brake company, will spend $1 million and expand its workforce by 40 people to increase production at its facility near China Grove in Rowan County, N.C.

According to New York Air Brake CEO Mike Hawthorne, its Premtec facility in North Carolina is manufacturing, assembling, and testing air brake hoses for use in the rail industry.

As part of its investment in its China Grove facility, the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority is awarding a $185,000 grant to renovate its building. The company is also getting a $50,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund, an economic development organization.

New York Air Brake currently operates production facilities in New York, Texas, Missouri, Illinois, North Carolina, and Canada.
