BOLINGBROOK, Ill. — Rail tech company Wi-Tronix is partnering with Ferromex to supply its locomotives with its Violet advanced video technology. Wi-Tronix’s Violet system captures snapshots and streaming video using locomotive digital video recorders. The technology can capture both dashboard and in-cab data.

Building upon traditional digital video recorders, the Violet technology has the ability to capture and store the locomotive data into a cloud-based system for quick and remote retrieval by railroad management and other officials.

The latest agreement expands Ferromex’s relationship with the tech company. In 2016, the railroad announced it would use the company’s Wi-PU technology, an on-board computing and data solution that monitors train and locomotive performance.
