CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Union Pacific and the City of Cheyenne are partnering on several steam shop tour opportunities beginning in mid-August through mid-November.

Visit Cheyenne, the city’s Convention & Visitors Bureau, is offering the tours at $20 per person on select dates. Tours begin at the Cheyenne Depot Museum and include a tour of the railroad’s steam facilities, trolley transportation to the shop, and admission to the Cheyenne Depot Museum.

The tours require patrons to wear sensible closed-toe shoes and sign a liability form prior to entering. Tours begin at 12:30 p.m. and reservation are required in advance.

The Friday-only tours will take place on Aug. 18 and 25, Sept. 15 and 29, Oct. 13 and 27, and Nov. 10 and 17.

Those in attendance will be able to see restoration progress on Union Pacific Big Boy 4-8-8-4 No. 4014 and other shop activities involving UP 4-8-4 No. 844 and UP 4-6-6-4 No. 3985, among other equipment.

Proceeds from the shop tour go to the Cheyenne Street Railway and Cheyenne Depot Museum.
