UP 'Nebraska 150 Express' sails through the prairies

ODESSA, Neb. — Father-son railfan duo Steve and Andy Glischinski caught sight of one Union Pacific’s streamlined E9s and a fleet of passenger cars on its tour of Nebraska for that state's 150th Anniversary.

The train, dubbed the "Nebraska 150 Express," departed Omaha today, Aug. 4, for a three-day tour. The special train will make stops in Columbus, North Platte, Ogallala, Sidney, Gering, Kearney, and Grand Island. At each stop, local sponsors will provide food and live entertainment. The train will layover an average two to three hours at each city.

Union Pacific published the following schedule in June:

Aug. 4:
9:45 a.m. local time train will depart from Omaha Durham Museum
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Columbus
4 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in North Platte

Aug. 5:
8 a.m. local time departure from North Platte
8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. in Ogallala
11:55 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. in Sidney
6:20 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. in Gering
Overnight in North Platte

Aug. 6:
8 a.m. local time departure from North Platte
10: a.m. – 11 a.m. in Kearney
11:55 a.m. – 12:55 p.m. in Grand Island
Depart for Omaha
