Union Pacific elects Patel to board of directors

OMAHA, Neb. — A top executive from a chemical and plastics refining company is now representing Union Pacific’s board of directors. UP recently announced it has elected Bhavesh “Bob” V. Patel to its board.

Patel, 50, is the CEO and Chairman of the management board of LyondellBassell Industries, a plastics, chemicals, and refining company. LyondellBassell manages 55 manufacturing sites in 17 countries and generated more than $29 billion in revenue last year.

Patel joined LyondellBassell in March 2010 and prior to being named CEO, he held a number of senior leadership roles for product lines in the United States and internationally.

Earlier in his career, Patel also held multiple leadership positions at Chevron Phillips Chemical Company.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a MBA from Temple University.
