MARIETTA, Ga. — Eight overhauled MK1500D locomotives have recently hit the resale market, with Biggs Appraisal Service listing the units in June. The eight locomotives were originally built for Houston Belt & Terminal Railway in 1996, which was a terminal railroad in the Houston area owned jointly by Union Pacific and BNSF Railway. In 1997, the HB&T was dissolved with BNSF acquiring the MK1500Ds in the transaction. They remained in HB&T colors and continued to serve in the Houston area following the dissolution.

Morrison- Knudsen built 32 MK1500Ds, with 24 constructed for Port Terminal Railroad, and eight for the HB&T, all in 1996. Morrison-Knudsen became MotivePower Industries in 1997, with six MP1500Ds produced that year, with the model name the only difference between the MP1500D and MK1500D locomotives.

The units listed for sale are HBT Nos. 9625-9632.
