CINCINNATI — More than 500,000 rides have been taken on the Cincinnati Bell Connector streetcar since its grand opening Sept. 9. Through May 16, there have been 511,196 passenger trips on the streetcar.

Cincinnati’s new streetcar system is so popular that in October, Transdev, the transit system’s operator, began running more streetcars on weekends to meet demand. According to Transdev officials, weekend ridership levels have been 300 percent to more than 500 percent higher than what local transit officials originally projected.

The 3.6-mile streetcar system runs from the city’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood south toward the riverfront.
