WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., is refusing to support any of President Donald Trump’s nominees for Department of Transportation positions until the White House funds CalTrain’s long-awaited electrification project.

Earlier this year, the administration announced it was withholding more than $640 million in federal funds for the CalTrain electrification project, essentially putting the entire effort on hold. Supporters say killing the project will have huge effects on the regional economy.

“I intend to oppose confirmation for every Transportation Department nominee until the Trump administration releases funding for the Caltrain Peninsula Corridor Electrification Project,” Feinstein tells The Hill.

Earlier this week, Feinstein opposed a vote on the nomination of Jeffrey Rosen for deputy secretary of transportation.
