PARIS — The Thales Group, an international supplier of electrical systems and other technologies for the rail industry, has purchased Guavus, a firm specializing in real-time data analytics.

Thales representatives say the purchase of Guavus will help them boost their digital strategy during a time when real-time analytics are becoming increasingly important to customers.

Guavus is a California-based technology company specializing in data processing and real-time analytics. The technology can evaluate the performance of different mechanisms so that the customer can better understand how their equipment or services are performing in the field.

The business arrangement was valued up to $215 million and is still subject to regulatory approval.
