WASHINGTON — The Short Line Safety Institute announced the second in a series of Safety Tips provided for short line and regional railroads on Friday. Focused on springtime challenges commonly experienced on railroads, the institute is now offering weekly safety tips on its website and Facebook pages.

Examples of spring safety tip topics include articles on erosion; snakes and insects; melting snow; fog; and yard drainage, among others.

The Safety Tip Tuesday Program, launched in January provides a railroad safety tip each week, with specific attention being paid to unique seasonal challenges.
