CHICAGO — The Chicago Transit Authority will add an additional 130 digital advertising displays across its transit system in the next two years. The displays provide both real-time service alerts and generate advertising revenue for the agency.

In addition to the new screens, the agency is also replacing more than 150 of its existing advertising displays. One of the improvements of the new displays is dedicated space on the screens for train information and other service alerts. Train information will be continuously displayed alongside advertisements.

The displays will be installed at no cost to the agency due to a contract arrangement with advertising partner Intersection Co. Intersection is an urban digital advertising company that has exclusive advertising rights on the transit system.

In 2016, advertising on buses, trains and at stations generated more than $27 million for the agency.
