BURKEVILLE, Va. — While headed for Washington, D.C., from Richmond, Va., the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey ‘Blue Unit’ circus train struck a semi truck near Burkeville on Monday afternoon, WTVR CBS TV news reports. The train was traveling on Norfolk Southern at the time of the incident.

No injuries were reported to the truck driver or onboard circus performers.

Norfolk Southern and the Virginia State Police are investigating the incident; however, preliminary reports indicate the truck had been disabled on the tracks prior to the collision.

Burkeville is located on NS' former Southern Railway Richmond District.
