MTA names Eng chief operating officer

NEW YORK — Phillip Eng has been appointed as chief operating officer at the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority. In his new role, Eng will help the agency with deploying its new fare payment system, mobile ticketing apps, technology projects, and other agency priorities.

Eng most recently served as executive deputy commissioner and chief engineer of the New York State Department of Transportation where he managed engineering, operations, and capital planning. He was directly responsible for the deployment of the agency’s $2.5 billion annual highway and bridge program.

He has worked in public transportation fore more than 30 years.
