PHILADELPHIA — Renovations are underway at Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority’s Paoli Station northwest of Philadelphia. SEPTA, Amtrak and elected officials recently gathered to celebrate the official groundbreaking for the $36-million improvement project.

Renovations include a new center island, high-level platform, new elevators and ramps, a pedestrian overpass, parking lot upgrades, and accessibility improvements. A Pennsylvania construction firm has been hired to administer the work.

The former Pennsylvania Railroad-built station served approximately 740,000 passengers in 2016. The station is located on the agency’s Paoli/Thorndale commuter rail line.
