MTA
NEW YORK — Metropolitan Transportation Authority Interim Executive Director Ronnie Hakim has named Darryl C. Irick as acting president of New York City Transit.

In his temporary role, Irick will be in charge of subway, bus, and paratransit services. He will serve as active president while Hakim, the current president of the transit system, serves as interim executive director of the MTA.

The change-up in the agency’s top leadership is due to the recent retirement of long-time MTA Chairman and CEO Thomas F. Prendergast. He retired on Jan. 31 after 25 years of service at the agency.

Transit leaders are in the process of searching for a permanent leader to head the MTA.
