MINNEAPOLIS — Light rail service in Minneapolis is helping spur economic development in the city and surrounding area. According to Minnesota’s Metropolitan Council, investors have spent almost $6.8 billion to develop properties along the Metro Green and Blue lines, as well as along the proposed Southwest and Blue Line Extension corridors.

The investments include the construction of new businesses along light rail routes and the rehabilitation of existing structures, including residential and commercial properties.

Metro Transit operates more than 20 miles of light rail lines through Minnesota and its suburbs.
