BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Capital Region Toys For Tots Holiday Train will be visiting Upstate New York on Dec. 5-6 with the support of Amtrak and Norfolk Southern.

On Saturday, the train will run from Binghamton to Delanson with additional stops in Bainbridge, Oneonta, and Cobleskill. This is Norfolk Southern’s first year as a sponsor, made possible as a result of its Delaware & Hudson acquisition from Canadian Pacific earlier this year. NS officials tell Trains News Wire that the railroad’s specially painted SD60E No. 6920 honoring military veterans will lead Saturday’s train to Delanson.

On Sunday, the Toys for Trains train will run from Rensselaer to Rouses Point with stops at Saratoga Springs, Whitehall, Port Henry, and Port Kent while en route.

“We utilize this effort to deliver bulk toys to our nonprofit partners who would otherwise not have the logistical means to get their orders,” says Ryan Lorey, public affairs coordinator for Capital Region Toys for Tots.

The train will operate with Amtrak equipment on its two-day journey across upstate New York.

Sponsors include Dunkin’ Donuts, IntegraOptics, and numerous local companies and organizations. The train will serve 12 counties and distribute toys and goods to more than 200,000 children.
