WILMERDING, Pa. - Wabtec announced its MotivePower division has received orders for three locomotives for Washington's Sound Transit commuter agency and seven for the under-development SunRail system in Florida.

Sound Transit's order includes 4,000-hp MP40-series locomotives with Tier 3-compliant engines. Delivery is to occur in 2012.

SunRail has ordered 3,000-hp remanufactured units with Tier 3-compliant engines. An artist's concept shows they’ll have a road-switcher body with a streamlined MP-series cab. The agency holds an option to purchase 13 additional locomotives. Delivery is to begin in 2013.

SunRail will connect Poinciana, Fla., on the southern end, with Deland, Fla., on the northern end, through downtown Orlando, a distance of 61 miles. Service is to start in 2013.
