MCCOOK, Ill. — Electro-Motive Diesel President John Hamilton announced his resignation today, TRAINS has learned. Company employees were notified of the departure this morning. Caterpillar's Progress Rail Services bought EMD Aug. 2, but had thus far not tipped its hand that Hamilton would be leaving. It's unclear whether he left voluntarily or was asked to resign, and EMD spokesman Mike Ricci said the company has no comment at this time. Progress spokeswoman Barbara Cox didn't return a call seeking comment.
