Photographer William Beecher Jr. drove all night to be in position to shoot the Dakota & Iowa start its day handling freight. Beecher found his subject - a train parked in the fertile Big Sioux River Valley - and went to work at sunrise. As he surveyed the open space, the long train, the flat prairie, and the dramatic clouds, his choice was immediately obvious: The Sigma 12-24mm F4 DG HSM Art lens. “I’m a huge fan of ultra-wide lenses and this is by far the best ultra-wide I’ve ever used. Solidly constructed, there’s a wow factor when first grabbing this lens.”

Sigma engineers designed the new 12-24mm Art lens to virtually eliminate vignetting. It also features exemplary corner sharpness, and minimized curvature of field. “The Sigma 12-24 has excellent sharpness toward the corners,” Beecher says, “which really brings out the details in a photo like this. And when you want to accentuate long dramatic lines, or make big skies fly, the freedom from any distortion and evenness of illumination across the frame is a real plus.“

FL-D glass elements, with performance equal to fluorite, provide for exceptional image quality. A constant F4 aperture through the entire zoom range allows for greater ability in low light compared to previous models. The largest aspherical element in the industry controls distortion, ghosting and flaring. This Sigma Art lens provides serious photographers with unparalleled creative freedom over its 12 to 24 mm range.

Since 1961, Sigma has developed technologies that enable photographers to capture perfect images. Today, Sigma is a top choice for railfans worldwide. Put yourself in the action with Sigma’s 12-24mm F4 DG HSM Art lens.
