Yard
A system or grouping of tracks connected to, but not part of, a main line; used for switching or storing cars, or making up trains.
Yard ladder
An angled track connecting successively the body tracks in a yard.
Yard-limit board
Trackside sign denoting the boundary of yard territory and rules.
Yaw dampers
A truck-mounted spring that prevents excessive rocking of a moving locomotive or car.
